This piece was born in the Tensas National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana. It's the last piece of the Singer tract, where the Ivory billed woodpecker was last seen and recorded. I came upon this exquisite old cypress on a poorly maintained trail. My footsteps had rousted some duck from the lake behind it. I chose to depict wood duck because of their beauty, but also gave a nod to the past with an Ivory Billed high in the tree. It is a reduction Linocut.
