Visiting a friend in Shreveport Louisiana, I decided to take a morning nature hike at the Red River Wildlife Preserve. Ahead on the trail I saw hundreds of White pelicans lifting up in a great spiral overhead. I ran to the wetland and began taking photos of the event. It was so exciting and majestic and just intoxicating in its beauty. I created the light behind the birds to have an almost religious icon feeling to the piece. It is an edition of 10 reduction linocuts.
