The Forest Primeval (Encaustic)

$4,500.00

Multi-layered, multi block linoleum relief print. It was printed onto Bugra 310 paper on an etching press with Gamblin ink. The piece is then mounted on a gessoed wood cradle board and encaustic medium and pigments applied. Edition of 8. Florida's version of Bigfoot is called Skunk Ape. Legends abound all over the state, but are especially common in the Everglades with it's million acres of wilderness. When I am out in the deep Florida forest with its' cypress domes, hardwood hammock and pine uplands, I feel like I shed my separate, human identity and become a fellow creature with the rest of the teeming life around me. This piece was designed with atmospheric layers of tree imagery printed in layers on the press. I add a few color details and mount the piece onto a wood cradled panel 2” deep which is then clear coated with encaustic medium and then pigmented encaustic frames and enhances the piece. It does not need to be framed as the encaustic protects and preserves the piece and also coats the edges. 3 originals available
