My family rented a house on Melrose Bay on Lake Santa Fe one summer, and I got to go out many times on my kayak at dawn and dusk, when temperatures were bearable. I took a sketchbook, and my camera to create the experience of being in that beautiful place.
I created an edition of 5 of Lake afterrnoon, and 5 of Lake Morning. It is a collagraph background of Lake Santa Fe, its water and shadows from shore and cypress and plant festooned shallows. Linocut images were designed to print a color layer, then a line/detail layer. Hand coloring with colored pencil complete these pieces. I have an encaustic version, and a matted paper version.
